Sunday morning, back in Glasgow...

I like Katy Gordon. I like Katy because she always seems to be enjoying herself. I like Katy because she has a strong work ethic and a sense of fun. I like Katy Gordon enough to turn up on a cold, damp Easter Sunday morning and stick stamps on envelopes, 350 of them.

Yes, the roadshow had rolled on, and we were in Kelvinside to meet local members as they went out to deliver leaflets for Katy's campaign to win in Glasgow North. Of course, it would be churlish to simply sit there and drink tea, so I got on with some clerical work, whilst Ros greeted people and thanked them for turning up.

Glasgow is not obviously fertile territory for Liberal Democrats, but the constituency includes parts of the old Glasgow Hillhead constituency, where Roy Jenkins won a famous by-election more than two decades ago. Katy lost by just 3,338 votes last time, and given Labour's growing unpopularity since then, and the scandals engulfing the Labour Group on the City Council, she has every chance in a crowded field (there are eight candidates already declared).

It was also nice to run into Ruaraidh Dobson, our PPC in somewhat less obviously winnable Paisley & Renfrewshire North, who had found time to lend a hand to Katy. I've worked with Ruaraidh on Liberal Youth stuff, and he's a genuinely nice guy.

And then, the dash for the train... it was time to go home...
